Corix Partners is active at a number of levels in the wider cyber security community in the UK and abroad. This is a summary of the activities which we have undertaken during October and November 2016.
Corix Partners attended “The Future of Cyber Security” panel discussion at IP EXPO Europe, Excel London on 5th October 2016.
The session was chaired by Rory Cellan Jones (BBC) with panellists: Eugene Kaspersky (Kaspersky Labs), James Lyne (Sophos), Joshua Corman (Sonatype) and Rik Ferguson (Trend Micro).
The consensus of the panel was that insufficient attention is being paid to cyber security and that cyber security professionals must take some of the responsibility for this situation. It is essential to get the basics right to protect your organisation, yourself and others.
Corix Partners also attended “The Future of Cloud” panel discussion at IP EXPO Europe, Excel London on 5th October 2016.
The session was chaired by Glen Robinson (Leading Edge Forum) with panellists: Mark Russinovich (Microsoft Azure), Matt McNeill (Google), Colin Humphreys (Pivotal) and Dr Jon Machtynger (IBM).
When asked at the beginning of the session, the majority of the audience confirmed that they are currently using the Cloud and a fair number of them for mission critical operations. The overall conclusion from this session was that the adoption of the Cloud will continue and gather pace but there is likely to be continued requirement for on-premises computing for the foreseeable future.
Corix Partners attended the UK Cyber Security Forum – London Cluster meeting hosted at ADS’s London offices on 19th October 2016.
Stephen Rhodes, Assistant Director for Cyber Security at the UK Department of Culture, Media and Sport, presented on the new National Cyber Security Centre and Cyber Skills.
Nigel Jones, CEO of the Information Assurance Advisory Council (IAAC), presented on their current research efforts and sought the views of the cluster members on those matters.
JC Gaillard, MD & Founder, Corix Partners, animated a panel discussion at a Telecom Paris Talk conference in Paris on 9th November 2016.
This formed part of the activities of the “Cyber Security” thematic group of the TelecomParisTech alumni association and the event was held at TelecomParisTech, 46 rue Barrault, Paris.
The group aims at building concrete activities amongst alumni communities, drawing on the experience of the alumni themselves and the research capacity of the school.
The event was focused on the evolution of the cyber security profession in the face of the digital transformation of the enterprise and society, and speakers included included Jean-Marie Lapeyre, CISO EMEA (General Motors), Alain Bouille, CISO (Caisse des Depots), Jean-Claude Laroche, Group CIO (EDF), and Mylene Jarossay, CISO (LVMH).
Founded in 1878, Télécom ParisTech is one of the top French public institutions of higher engineering education and research in France.
Corix Partners, in collaboration with specialised insurance software firm Sequel, have analysed the Cyber Insurance topic in depth throughout the course of 2016 and have presented their conclusions in a white paper published on 24th November 2016 which can be downloaded here.
Corix Partners contributed to the Institute of Directors “Director” blog through an article published 18th November 2016 which summarised a recommended approach for SMEs around Cyber Insurance.
